The best time to get to Lan Ha Bay is summer time as the weather is warm with low moisture, sunny, suitable for both bathing and cruise. If you want to travel Cat Ba Island, autumn is not a bad idea. However, Summer and Autumn is also time for storms and the weather is not very sunny for the beach.
Discovering Lan Ha Bay
Located to the south of Halong Bay, Lan Ha Bay is home of Cat Ba Island. The Bay spreads over 7,000 ha, of which 5,400 ha are under the administer of Cat Ba National Park. Cat Ba National Park
Cat Ba National Park is located in the north of Hai Phong. It consists of 367 islands in Lan Ha Bay. In total, Cat Ba National Park composes of 17,040 hectares of land and 9,200 hectares of marine surface. This park has diverse ecosystems: mangrove forests, limestone forests, and coral reef.
The fauna and flora system in Cat Ba archipelago is diverse with 2,320 fauna and flora species, in which 60 species are especially rare species in the endangered Vietnamese Red List such as Cat Ba langur resident in the park which is listed as a critically endangered primate. Cat Ba National Park is also renowned for the archeological research that revealed humans have lived in these islands for more than 6,000 years ago.
