Overview

Sihanoukville is a province in the southwest of Cambodia at the Gulf of Thailand. The provincial capital is also Sihanoukville that is a deepwater port city and a growing urban center of the province. The name of the province is named as the name of king Norodom Sihanouk which is in honor of the dedication of the king for the independence of the country. The deepwater port of Cambodia consists of a mineral oil terminal and a transport logistic facility as well.

About the province’s politic system, this province is divided into 4 districts. Each of its has its own economic character that defined by the location and natural resources. In addition to the port and the tourism industry, the activities of countless NGO’s and international investors have contributed to the economic development over the last decade. The industrial departments that are focusing on developing consist of the transport and logistics industry, process manufacturing, agriculture and fishery, textile and the real estate market.

Sihanoukville possesses the beautiful untouched islands and beaches that are on top in Cambodia that attract a large number of international and domestic tourists. The province has lied in the zone of the tropical monsoon climate that has two distinctive seasons including a wet season and a dry season. The average temperatures range from 14 Celsius degree to 36 Celsius degree. The total annual rainfall varies approximately from 1,000 to 1,500 millimeters, whereas the heaviest rainfall season is from August to September. During the months of the dry season, the humidity averages about 50% or lower a bit, but in general, it doesn’t reach over 60% in the rainy season.
