Tan Son Nhat airport was built in 1930 in Tan Son Nhat village, Go Vap district, Gia Dinh province, about 8 km from Ho Chi Minh City to the north Tan Binh district. Nowadays, Tan Son Nhat International Airport is an important transportation hub of South Vietnam with 3 domestic airlines and 45 international airlines. This airport belongs to the management and operation of the Vietnam Airlines Corporation (ACV) under the Ministry of Transport.

Cam Ranh International Airport was built by the US Army for military use during the Vietnam War. Later, Cam Ranh Airport was under Vietnamese control and continued to serve in the military. In 2004, Cam Ranh was transformed into a major civil service airport in Khanh Hoa province and the southern central provinces, replacing Nha Trang airport in the city which is limited in its space. Cam Ranh International Airport is located in the center of Cam Ranh peninsula. Cam Ranh International Airport is 35 km north of Nha Trang City, 10 km south of Cam Ranh City.
